A few minor bard changes

  • Bards now have a cast bar. Yippie!
  • Euphonic hymn lost its ae slow effect, but it is better at enhancing physical damage.
  • Selo-enhanced chords of dissonance only does 9 ticks, not freakin' 20.
  • Song of the Sirens button now properly indicates if you have insufficient mana.
  • Consonant Chain checked the wrong mana value when indicating if low on mana to cast it.
  • You can now release your minions by pressing the charm button again (same goes for enchanters)
  • Shield of Songs has been completely changed. It now has a large mana cost, but provides you with shield HP, similar to something like Cleric's guardian angel.

Bards are gonna be pretty weird. Probably the hardest class to design for me.

Wasn't it a cardinal rule of the early Everquest that every patch had to break bards in some way? Because their songs were coded differently and were nothing like regular spells or anything else in the game?

Woot for bard talents! A question though, the level 20 bonus for desperate dirge switches it from AoE to hit random targets. This might be a dumb question, but wouldn't that be a downgrade since it would be hitting less mobs ?

Other talent testing observations: The stun proc via magic damage from our clarity song doesnt seem to be working. Also, damage increase talent for desperate dirge and chords of dissonance isnt effecting the spell (doesn't show in the tooltip and I also tested it on mobs). On another note, frenzy bard is working great :)

No, the way it would work is... if you're fighting a boss, all five "AE" hits would target the boss instead of 4 hits completely whiffing. I'm thinking this bonus is retardedly powerful, so I'm probably going to change this to something else.

A few bugs in bard talents now that I know the trees are finished! :)

-Talent procs don't appear to be working. I've yet to get a single heal from the Level 20 desperate dirge, and the chant of battle / hymn of restoration procs that were working before the other trees were finished yesterday don't appear to be working now. Can you check into these?

Last but not least, aoe song damage is now effecting charmed pets and showing up in all mob slots even if there are only a few on screen.
