Worked late tonight and managed to make significant progress on the account creation system. Things that work on test:
- Create an account
- Authenticate an account using encryption
- Email validation
- Password validation
- Pretty good error handling for stuff like short passwords or passwords not matching
- Input boxes allow use of ENTER key to submit your authentication data
- Temporary password lockout feature for too many bad passwords

No. Online/local play will be totally separate.

How will that work though? could I still play my original while leveling up a new character on an account?

Yes, local play and account play will be totally separated, but both will be available. Expect some aspects of local play to change though. For example the leaderboard for local play will probably go away.
