I'm not putting every item in, but I want to put in the most iconic, nostalgic items. Speak now or forever hold your peace. I'll start:

Green mist BOY! SK only almost as good if not better then the actual SK epic. So much good came from kunark. Velious Got to have Primal weapons from sleepers tomb. The Nice caster gear from ToFS dude don't even get me started on the quest gear from Kael Drakle zone, and Skyshrine, and west wastes and and so much greatness there too.

Wurmslayer was a fun toy. Lamentation was a nice sword for it's time. Runed Bolster Belt was a great haste upgrade, with stats, from FBSS. Cloak of Flames - good haste item with stats. Siblisian Berzerker Cloak - great haste item with stats. Mana Robe was nice, but not sure how you would work in the click effect... Sarnak Battle Shield was a nostalgic twink item. The Green Jade Broadsword and Green Jade Axe were nice weapons.
Just some toys i remember from kunark days...Will see about coming up with some from Velious later.

I actually started adding in classic planar gear and dragon loot too, so you should see more of that. Cloak of Flames is one of them.

Kunark class sets for starters! Is your DB set up for class limiting items already by the way?

From the beginning I kind of got rid of the idea of class-specific items. There are so many classes in the first place so you'd often get drops you don't need. I wanted drops to be as useful to as many classes as possible. I'm still going to put in items like Scimitar of the Mistwalker and others though. They'll just be usable by all 1hs classes.

I see! In either case though, the class sets from each respective expansion you eventually choose to release, is kind of a core thing in itemization in my opinion. Epics, maybe tie them to quests?

Maelfyn if you added class armor you can have it as a quest that what ever class your playing would get their class gear. Though you would need to make it no trade(can't put in the bank, but can sale to a merchant) That way you don't overpower your other classes. Planar gear would be level 52+ gear Veshan Peeks would be 60+, and Skyshrine would be 65+. Primal would be level 65+ weapons. Set it up so these items are leveled based off the expansion and/or the level of the mob who drops them. Ya know.

I'm against the idea of class armor/weapon quests because then it just turns into getting the one specific item you're supposed to get for each slot. I'd rather have people mixing and matching armor and discovering combinations of uniques that they think are the most effective. I think that leaves more tactically interesting possibilities for players.

What I'm not against is the possibility of future hidden zones.

stuff from my Project1999 Warrior's backpacks...
Sarnak Warhammer (procs a Stun) Blood Point (procs a Lifetap) Truncheon of Doom (procs a Slow) Lamentation (no proc, but nice weapon ratio) Argent Defender (nice beefy 2HS)
all the cool Kunark armor was class specific.... i.e. Cobalt armor for warriors, Donal's for clerics, Tolan's for rangers, etc.

Yeah, I think the class-specific armor in Kunark was really uninspired. I liked classic's variety better.

Velium / Primal Velium weapons?
if you don't recall, Velium weapons had the same stats as Fine Steel (i think), but also had a small ice based damage proc
Primal Velium procced Avatar, which is a short duration level 60 Shaman buff that adds a ton to all melee stats.

i assume you know what the Fabled event is on EQLive? if not, though -- it happens once a year around this time, its a celebration for Everquest's birthday... more difficult "Fabled" versions of various classic mobs start appearing, and they drop a powerful Fabled version of one of their old iconic pieces of loot... might serve as a decent general reference for what the best nostalgic gear is. here are links listing all the Fabled gear from classic / Kunark / Velious: http://www.almarsguides.com/eq/general/ ... tonica.cfmhttp://www.almarsguides.com/eq/general/ ... aydwer.cfmhttp://www.almarsguides.com/eq/general/ ... kunark.cfmhttp://www.almarsguides.com/eq/general/ ... elious.cfm

While this isn't Kunark/Velious items, the vanilla WoW world epics could certainly have a place in Nevergrind. I think this list is pretty complete: http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Epic_world_drops

Oh, haha, I didn't consider putting WoW items in, but that would be kind of fun. I have fond memories of vanilla WoW.

I've noticed quite a few Diablo items, so I thought about these. They're kind of classic anyway and gives a little more variety from the EQ stuff.

Actually, I have another suggestion too, based on the popular EQ Emulator server Shards of Dalaya. You could add proc effects to gloves that only work for hand to hand attacks (monks, eventually possibly beastlords), procs to boots that apply on kick effect skills and procs to breastplates that trigger when something hits you!
And while speaking of it, do you plan to incorporate real hand to hand weapons?

Probably not adding "hand to hand" weapons, like brass knuckles or whatever. Not any time soon. Too many other things to add. haha These are fun ideas though. Currently your boots' armor does affect your finishers' damage.

Monks get shafted a bit statwise if they go hand to hand (a lot of the very important HP leech effects come from weapons for instance) which is why I'm wondering.

That's a good point. I'll have to develop ways to balance it out. I like the idea of getting free effective weapons as a monk, so I'll try to make it more viable.
