attack speed not same as attack haste?

Post subject:  attack speed not same as attack haste?
So ive been noticing that items with attack speed on them do not add to the attack haste mod on the character sheet.

Are these not the same function? And if they are not the same what exactly is the difference in them then?

attack speed is a weapon specific attribute that reduces the base delay of the weapon.

so id a weapon is listed 40 delay and also has a 40% atk speed mod is the real delay than 24?

I ask that since i have seen same weapon types with all different displayed delay and if atk speed works like above why not just do the math on the normal display instead of making people do it. Just jeep the atk speed hidden but adjust the delay in its normal spot?

Because there are other adjustments and that's not entirely how attack speed works and it'd just be weird. That was never how EQ worked. Where would the delay display even be? On the item? That wouldn't work. Seems like a silly thing to ask for.

The delay is already calculated into the tooltip. It's just indicating that "this weapon is faster than normal" and nothing more. I guess I could just hide that information from the player. I dunno.

What?? Not all items are the same... Some have different stats and delays and attack speed bonuses. You're over-thinking and worrying about nothing. Just use the weapon with the best ratio, it's not all that complicated. You don't need to do any maths outside of the weapon itself...
