You can either max out siphon life or corpse explosion. I chose siphon life in this video, but I think corpse explosion would probably work better. This is the most DPS I have been able to do with any character since the ranger nerf. Shaman is consistently around 4k-5k, ranger is around 6k, monk is around 8k, Wizard is around 3k, and this necro clip reached 11k.

Here is the damage:

Gearing: In this video I maxed crit and nearly maxed crit damage but only had 40% cast speed. Cast speed is much less important because much of the damage being done is as a result of being hit while maxing out invoke fear. I am actually wearing quite a bit of mail armor due to the lack of crit and crit dmg stats on caster gear.

The upside: You murder groups fast. Immune to fear. Cast speed is irrelevant. Can wear plate or whatever and be a battle mage.

The downside: You can die really fast. Survivability is linked to howling terror and your siphon life spell which are both on long cooldowns.

Pro tip: stack tons of exp gear and level like crazy. I think i went from level 31 to level 96 in about 20 hours.

Just popped in to PoF to test for comparison, my SK is around 7k on crowds(peaked around 8k) without fears(Ogre = no stun). 4-7k single target. SK is still really durable though, with Vampiric Embrace on top of nerfed Life Leech he heals well with Cleave, can generally live through a single fear with 5 mobs on screen. Caveat is of course that my OP weapon makes it so.

Ranger does between 5k and OW OW WHY AM I ALREADY DEAD!? DPS. Still seems to rule single targets though.

I'm not really playing anymore, but I was curious how the SK stacked up. There's still apparently no one else playing them.

I still haven't seen that 2h drop, and I just got my second level 99. And i have a 96 necro and a 97 shaman too. Bad luck. I feel like ive seen everything else like 1000 times. That DPS you are doing seems pretty amazing. That is on par with my monk who is near indestructible and does 7-10k dps. Anything with Crippling aura is a death though when you have 5 mobs up and I am not immune to stun.

I should level an SK simply because of the sheer bank space Ill open up by doing so, but at the moment I have no comparison. However the good thing about necro and monk is that you are immune to fear and even when the ranger was super OP, I would farm with my monk because I could mindlessly do it while doing something else without worrying about getting feared and killed.

Maybe that will be my next toon.

Yeah you're due for a plate class=P

I've tried warrior twice now and I just get bored. It's probably not even the class, just the fact I've played the game enough that nothing really hooks me now. After leveling the SK I did the ranger, but that was a cakewalk at the time. Especially with twink gear. Don't have another class over 20.
