Hey everyone, I am fairly new on NVG though I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. I scouted the forums a bit looking for some sort of more in depth look at how the process works (I.E percentages for breaking etc.) I've attempted 5 upgrades and seem to break everything past 2 attempts lol. I figure this is working as intended, but I was wondering if I was missing something, or if level might have something to do with it? I'm currently a lv 46 hardcore SK. I was hoping maybe someone could give me the run down, or post a link to a section I might have missed explaining this all to me.
Thanks!

Failure rate depends on its current upgrade status: 0: 100% 1: 96% 2: 92% 3: 88% 4: 84% 5: 80% 6: 75% 7: 70% 8: 65% 9: 60%

Does upgrading items do more than +AC/Atk, +Resist?

AC/resist for armor, +magical % damage or +physical % damage. I think the message in the chat log indicates what is upgraded.

Ugh.. learned the hard way in the beginning. Destroyed my best items trying to upgrade past 3/10. I have tried 5 times and all 5 times it has failed at 4/10. I am surprised to see it is 84%. Certainly doesn't seem like it.

One basic strategy is that it makes finding duplicate items less of a downer because then it can be your backup item. You can upgrade them together until one fails.

Good point about duplicate items
Have you thought about increasing the bonus/adding effects for the 10/10 upgrade since it's so tough to do?

Mmmmm.. no. It's an extra bonus nice-to-have kind of thing. Certainly nothing players should expect to have. Plus it's a great way to remove items from the economy.
