Wizards are insane. I didn't even use iceblock or my dark elf racial and I beat Nalatos at ~50% hp. :D

Should do a mini guide in the wizard forum. You're certainly the foremost authority and I wouldn't mind trying one.

Yep, I was going to. Just wanted to get a video for Nalatos on Hell to show a longer example of how to play one during bossfights.

I don't know who will be the first to clear hell on hardcore at level 99, but I'd wager it'll be a dark elf enchanter. :lol:

Apparently someone knows how to get a DE ENC to lvl 97 in less than a day.

i'd grind forward to 99 right now if i wasn't busy with irl business.. hallmark of a good game, making me decide whether or not i want to push hours here or hours studying

On topic, will try and go for first Mage to clear Hell, though I'm only in Nightmare Act4 for now - work and rl getting in the way...

Yes, they are the best in hell. The bosses have some meat to them and its a tactical endurance fight more than just kill them before they kill you.

I will say I think it was a real challenge to make 1v1 boss fights interesting for 14 different classes with tons of talent variety. It's a lot easier to design a 24 v 1 fight because it allows players to specialize in different tasks, but in this game you have to cover all the bases with one character.

It is difficult, it forces you to sort of homogenize each class, they need to have similar DPS and survivability. I think that's entirely fine so long as each class plays differently (which they do!).

Aye if you look at my enchanter thread (I'm sure you have) I pointed out you really don't need to commit to an excessive balancing in a single player game such as this. There are plenty of established games in which certain classes are simply recognized by the community as easier to play. Tales of Maj'eyal for example uses this as a mechanic. In that game, which is also exclusively single player, you have to accomplish certain achievements with the easier classes before you unlock the harder classes.

This game doesn't use that unlocking mechanic in such a way (though I'm all for unlocking rewards for hitting 99 with a class!!), but I think segregating the leaderboard with races + recognizing folks for hitting 99 / beating hell with individual classes accounts for this somewhat.

That said, will be happy to continue whistleblowing ways in which certain classes get a free pass on this or that type of encounter (at this point, I've only intensively played enchanter). My enchanter thread suggests enchanters can easily defeat bosses, but man, I can't even auto attack in hell at this point because my alacrity also affects my own auto attacks. I'm afraid I'll get eaten by thorns/wall of flames/conviction on everyday prefix mobs (exactly how Pons died). Its already balanced in that way. Enchanter is very weak against certain ambush situations and I'm living in fear trying to get first HC hell completion...

In short though, I've completely changed my strat for hell... made it way more interesting, and fun! if thats the question.

Pause is a really technical feature, too. That was hard to implement !
