Yeah 96+ It really hurts to die...like hours and hours of hurt.

I saw that.. you lost so much xp it was visible on the leaderboard.
The amount of xp to 99 is just absurd, it takes more xp to go from 97-98 than it does 1-97 and I imagine 98-99 is even worse. At least there is competition or I definitely wouldn't still be going. Also I'm somehow finding gear upgrades periodically.

Yeah, it hurt... a lot... I guess triple ambushes are ultra rare (just my luck) and it was three elite mobs all smiting me for 400+ - not much I could do  Just wait till you hit 98.. it'll be over 100m to 99 from there... I've found a few upgrades as well.. I actually have my filter set to just legendary elite stuff now and discard the rest. Figure if I decide to twink a character I'll just use vendor bought stuff and then swap to the elite once the character gets to 50+... Think the highest level item I've found so far is 64

Naw, I took one to 98 then saw how much XP it was and said screw it.. this was during testing of the server stuff - also at the time there was no 25%+ XP penalty for dying..

I made a ranger and look at the leaderboard and suddenly I'm first again. You gotta go to a lower area man, its not worth it! I actually feel like doing lower areas is better xp anyway, time to kill enemies seems to grow faster than xp bonus.

You only get like twice as much xp in hell but everything has 10x the life.
I only do hell because my charmed pet is all my damage, if I was a warrior I'd absolutely be in nightmare.

Yeah, the 3 status effects is often a chain killer too. Just slows things down too much for my necro. I might be able to do some leveling in nightmare.
