Interviewing for a dev position. I can't wait to be told that I'm not competent enough because I dunno Agile methodology |

It's like playing rugby, first you scrum and then you sprint |

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to working on a team or all that awful jargon. |

Software support here, you are too responsive to be a dev, you need to learn to wait at least a calendar week to reply. |

It'll be interesting for sure. The only part I'm concerned about right now is they seem fixated on using Ruby or Java on the back end. I don't know jack about either, so I'm hoping they're flexible enough to go with PHP. Personally I don't see a single benefit of using Ruby over PHP aside from "kool kid less popular language" points. The rest of the position description seemed great though. I'm sure the whole Ruby/Java thing will be a hurdle. I mentioned this on the skill matrix I submitted, so perhaps they're flexible. |

If you're fluent in php then picking up Ruby shouldn't be a big deal. Spend five minutes checking it out on Codeacademy or googling. If everything they have is written in that then they're unlikely to want to add a rogue language to the mix, but once you know how code works (eg how loops work, diff between a local and global variable, etc) then it's all just syntax anyway |

Uh, I guess it went okay? They never show their cards in these interviews, so you dunno dunno until weeks later. I just told him how I like to build websites, what I know, what I'm good at etc. They didn't ask any crazy questions or anything. I admitted I would have to ramp up on Ruby if I filled the position and I said I thought that would be an incremental process that would probably take a few months. So we'll see. I should have just said... look, you bitches. I'm the admin of Nevergrind. What more do you even need? |

Game should be in your portfolio, for sure. Working code, responsive attention to users, database rework (best way to learn), what's not to like? Fingers crossed. |

Probably hear back this week. This website is definitely on the resume. But I feel like government enterprise types really don't give a shit about what anyone does in the free market. I feel like I'm speaking French when I talk about it. |

I am being oppressed. I don't get it. Have they even seen how awesome Nevergrind is? Are they crazy? I could have made their stupid HR form using single-page architecture AND put a hidden RPG inside of it. They have no idea what they're missing. I would have added a kung fu noise from Shinobi 3 when you click Submit. |

you partially designed NeverGrind as a game to play when you should be working. maybe they sense that. |

No, no. I don't play it at work. I design it at work. Get it right! |

What do you design at work? because nevergrind could use some.... Keep applying places, eventually someone will take a chance on you and get your foot in the door. You might need to grab another language or skill - like master java or python or ruby to push you over the top. |
