The new combat panel and why it will be great

So I'm currently redesigning the combat panel to be 8x3, so it's possible to have up to 24 buttons at once. There will no longer any concept of a combat or non-combat panel, or even a weird side panel thingy with universal buttons. Everything is one one panel now. In fact it's currently working that way on test, but I have a lot of details to iron out still. Nonetheless, it's coming soon. But what does it mean for gameplay?

Quite a lot. It means casters will be able to use their longest cast, high-powered spell first—think Wizard's Meteor! It means Bards can preload all kinds of horseshit like shield of songs and a full song stack before entering combat. It means re-casting pets in combat is trivial. It means refreshing that buff you want is trivial in combat because you have a 150 kill streak going.

So clearly there is quite a lot of impact on gameplay as a result of this. A few implementation notes:

- Search Battle and Add Monster are the same button now.
- Attack and Toggle Auto Attack are the same button now.
- There's no non-combat and combat version of the same skill, like feign death.
- After I upload the update, your button panel will probably be completely reset due to how dramatic the change is.
- The buttons might go from 64x64 in size to 50x50 in size. They are eating too much vertical space.
- Eventually the buttons will be changed from "sortables" to drag and drop, similar to implementations seen in games like World of Warcraft, EverQuest, and every MMO in history. When I originally implemented this feature, I didn't have the technical know-how to pull this off without headaches.

Layout is fantastic mate, but unfortunately all of my icons are messed up and only some are working now.

Looks like this:

Any ideas on fix would be great.

Great freaking game btw, so many of the best parts of EQ captured here.

I'll have to look into this tonight. So you see this for all classes or only certain classes?

Something likes this happens for my bard. This usually happens right when I pull, or after I kill something. Relogging fixes it temporarily.

Yah, I have duplicated this problem. Should be an easy fix.

What browser? And version if you can? I am not seeing this lately. I think this might be some weird file version issue... perhaps. I have seen it work correctly in IE, FF, and chrome.. though I saw it mess up earlier this morning. But maybe it magically went away?

I'm still seeing the error in the screenshot I linked in Chrome 36.0.1985.125 m.

I haven't seen the error where a skill is moved slightly in its hotkey slot (the pink/purple skill in my screenshot) in a long time, but the other error - with the last slots disappearing after a kill - is still happening.

So you don't see that weird image sprite misalignment either? That's good.

Yeah I don't see that. To be honest I think I only saw it once, maybe twice.

Apologies Maelfyn, haven't had a chance to log on and play since I reported this until tonight.

Just logged back in and all is well.

Appreciate the fix, great job again.

Cheers mate.
