I have hired an artist to work on the backgrounds and monsters that are currently in the game. We have planned to finish in December, but there's no guarantee of that. As you know it is a lot of work due to the number of mobs and dungeons that are in the game (even after the huge reduction). I am super excited to unveil what I have seen so far, but I think I will save all of it for version 1.0 when the game is released. Perhaps I'll release a screenshot or two if I overload with excitement.

I assume SoE or someone of the such must have sent a letter or something. Sad news to see you changing from the EQesque scene. Guess i'm not surprised, sad to see it go. BUT on another note, excited to see 1.0. Very excited.

I didn't get anything from SoE. It's not wise to wait for a C&D if you think it's a genuine possibility. In the past it wasn't much of a possibility, but the game came much farther than I ever expected. I'm pre-emptively changing the game before I get a C&D. I ended up talking to one guy on Kong that basically explained that p1999 actually has a written agreement with SOE and that's the only reason they're allowed to do what they do. I have no such contract with SOE, and I personally feel it is too limiting even if I did get an agreement. Instead, I have opted to open up the possibilities.

I think in the end you will be pleased with the results. I am withholding a lot of information right now, but I will be happy to announce more when the time is right.
