Why do I need reduced weight? I don't see anything that weighs anything.

Is it for cloth classes or something to get a higher chance at cloth gear?

Wiki quote:
"Drops the weight of an item to the tier below it. For example plate drops to chain, chain drops to leather, and leather drops to cloth."

Your character can equip any armor. However, wearing an item with a heavier armor class than what your class supports will come with a haste penalty.

The Reduced Weight property lowers the armor class by one step so you can avoid the penalty.

It's nice to open up more options for you character considering the wide spread of classes. For example, I think it's worth the 2% haste penalty to wear Gutrender plate gauntlets on my rogue.

Actually I'm glad you asked. It's probably a good idea to include a link to the armor penalties page on the item properties description. I'll go add that.
