It's the closest thing you can get to corpse run Maybe do a complete wearing equipment lost? Or maybe partial inventory lost?

Yes to this as well! Death right now is pretty inconsequential.

Figured it would spice up the leaderboard a bit. Like, oh no! Level 98 dude lost exp and I passed him! etc. Plus I want to make it a percentage of your level's exp, so that it makes it even harder to hit 99. I won't ever de-level people, though.

The thing is. In this game it's all about loot .. levels and exp you can always regain, but it could be much harder, specially in this game (with drop chances and such) to regain lost equipment.. or maybe loose some treasure you were holding in your backpack for future use or maybe for another char.. It could also motivate players to increase their bank size because - like always - stuff in bank is always secure and safe from lost when your char dies.. It's the closest you can have to a corpse run if you know what I mean. I'd rather loose stuff on my inv than stuff I'm currently holding though; Will it be much harder to code?

Destroying items in my code is dead simple. That just seems super evil. I can't think of any game that does that.

XP Loss, sure. Item loss would be awful. For anyone that wants to play item loss they'll just have to do hardcore.

yes i think exp loss on death should be implemented. i'd like to see something that is not to harsh in lower levels but gets much worse the higher you level.

It just hit me. How about exp loss on death starting at level 6? I dunno where this idea came from, but it sounds perfect to me!

Here's how it will work:
Die at level 6: 1.2% exp loss Die at level 50: 10.2% Die at level 98: 20%
Is it too much? Hm... maybe 15% at 98.

This would make it pretty hard to hit level 99 as dying once during 98 would make you lose tons of hours of progress. But that could be an ok thing.

If you add an xp penalty, it would be cool if you could mitigate that somewhat by having their naked character take down some low level ghost mobs as a sort of corpse run... skipping it would mean taking the penalty, agreeing to it could mean chancing another death. Also: world should be in B&W while dead

Harsher penalties on death is a good decision. I don't know about missing items, but a reduction to MF for a period of time is a good deterrent not to die.
I know in EQ I would dread dying due to XP loss, or even level loss. That kind of fear is nice to have.

I have certainly toned down my risk in pulling big chains of mobs.
I think if I blast through to max level and find nothing there, I will have wished for this penalty. If this were like Diablo 3, when a whole new game opens up at max level (essentially) then this would be an annoyance.
Slight thumbs up.
