The Upgrade Item option in town lets you spend the gold you earn on enhancing your equipment. You can upgrade an item up to 10 times, with each time costing more gold and providing a greater effect. Upgrading an armor item will add bonus armor and resist all. Upgrading a weapon will give you the choice between increasing all physical or increasing all magical damage you deal.
