Nevergrind server accounts now available to the public!

Server accounts just went public at https://nevergrind.com! I saw two folks already sign up and it looks like they’re off to catch up to the Early Access backers that helped catapult Nevergrind to its success on Kickstarter. At this time three classes have already cleared hell difficulty: Warrior, Necromancer, and Bard. It’ll be quite a spectacle to see the leaderboards flood with new players eager to claim the top spots.

Congrats to Fitzor, the first player to clear hell difficulty in season 1!

A warrior was the first character to clear hell difficulty in season 1. He defeated Nalatos at level 96.

Nevergrind Campaign Status: Successful

I’m short on words right now, but I will say thank you to everyone that reached into their wallets (or purses!) to back this campaign. The level of support you showed was remarkable. In the last hours of the campaign, we even hit the $5,000 Hall of Champions stretch goal. I’m looking forward to building that and I am going to work with Jocelyn Sarvida to come up with a design that doesn’t suck. 🙂

I have decided that almost all data from test season will be wiped, including accounts. This means that players with test accounts will have to re-create their accounts. All Kickstarter rewards will be found in the bank upon login… except for legendaries which will be custom built one-by-one. If you see any discrepancies when you login, just let me know. Everything should magically appear thanks to the almighty power of PHP.

While you wait, check out the scoreboard:

Final Hour Reward Tier: The Hero

With less than 20 hours to go, I’m pulling out all the stops to hit our first stretch goal. Check out the new reward tier, “The Hero”, which includes a custom legendary weapon and one piece of custom legendary armor for $135. In addition, all tiers above this tier will also include both of these legendary items! Check out the Kickstarter update for the full details and, spoiler alert, a picture of the first legendary item in Nevergrind!

Nevergrind Patch Notes 0-8-98

  • Fixed Bard’s L20 Chant of Battle tooltip. Also ensured magic damage only applies while the song is actually playing.
  • Changed Ranger’s Warder’s Rift talent to reduce mitigation of your own attacks.
  • Bard AE damage songs now re-apply an icon with each tick.
  • Fixed Ranger’s Snare talent tooltip. It does not apply enhanced damage. It only empowers your auto attacks.
  • Bards can now run from their charmed pets after fighting a boss.
  • Bleed effects no longer stack, but they hit slightly harder.
  • You can no longer dual wield with a shield/spellcaster off-hand item. Happy days are over.
  • Bard’s Chords of Dissonance and Desperate Dirge are now indicated as BUFFS. This will make it easier to determine when the song is playing.
  • Added all kinds of stuff that will probably break server accounts tomorrow.
  • Added the item icon to the item tooltip window.

  • Fixed Ranger’s Warder’s Rift L20 talent. It now triggers a stackable regen when you parry.

Nevergrind Patch Notes 0-8-96

  • Changed Wizard’s Charged Bolt, Magician’s Firestorm, and Druid’s passive skill Thunder Storm (from talented Volcano) to select random living targets. This makes these skills much more powerful than the old targeting system since some would simply hit nobody. This makes it very powerful against one target. The old targeting system that sometimes hit nothing made all of those skills unsatisfying.
  • Paladin’s L20 Vengeance bonus now unlocks from Vengeance properly. Rebuke was incorrectly unlocking it before.
  • Changed the name of Symbol of Ryltan and Naltron. Just way too EverQuest.
  • Paladin’s L20 Slam bonus was changed to +50 Fear Resistance from +25 Defense.
  • Paladin’s L20 Thunderbolt from Rebuke now hits 5 random targets, up from a 3-cone pattern.
  • Paladin’s L20 Vengeance now fires a hail of divine Holy Bolts at random targets.
  • Ranger’s Thistlecoat talented health bonuses now updates the health bar correctly.
  • Fixed the 2nd hit on a L20 Shockwave.
  • Changed Warrior Slam’s L20 from “snaring all targets” to unleashing a non-stun shockwave on all targets.

Nevergrind Patch Notes 0-8-95

  • Wizard’s Charged Bolts now target random mobs correctly.
  • Fixed mana leech.
  • Druid’s Earthquake is more powerful now since it selects random living targets instead of purely random slots.
  • Adjusted Volcano to hit twice as many times over 7 seconds. It deserved more power for such a long cooldown.
  • Lowered Volcano’s cooldown to 60 seconds and 30 seconds with 20 talent points.
  • Adjusted Volcano’s animation a bit.
  • Druid’s Earthquake, Volcano, and Hurricane are all considered damage over time spells now. This means that Iron Maiden no longer affects them.
  • Status reduction can now go below 0% on nightmare and hell difficulty. This means that on hell you can actually have -50% fear duration, increasing the duration of fear by 50%. This makes it very important to have some status duration gear since status effect duration can be increased significantly (a bad thing).
  • Screen resize now maintains the original aspect ratio.
