Firmament Wars: Attacking, defending, resource indicators!

Here’s another juicy shot of my labor of love, Firmament Wars. Attacking, moving, and resource accumulation all work, now! At this point it’s coming very close to being a basic, functioning version of the game.

So, at this time, here’s what actually works:

  • Starting, joining, and initializing games.
  • Configuring your nation.
  • Attacking/defending, combat validation, and moving through your own territory.
  • Manpower and resource accumulation.

Tasks remaining in order to have a basic working game:

  • Resolving when the game is over.
  • Finish manpower deployment action.
  • Finish muster action.
  • Add some basic UI and animation stuff.

Once that’s finished I’d like to do some invite-only private testing of the game with other players. We’ll see how it plays, iron out the problems, and then I’ll finish adding all of the other bells and whistles that I have planned:

  • Add ability to build structures.
  • Add cultural milestone rewards.
  • Add food milestone special rewards.
  • Add a basic chat interface.

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks ahead.

Firmament Wars: Making good UI progress

Data is now successfully loading from the server and the user can now click on tiles and load data from those tiles. When you click a tile it will show the user’s flag, nation name, account name, and info about the tile, such as armies and area name. Next I will add more details such as tile resources, structures, and more!

Firmament Wars: Progress on the game lobby

The game creation lobby will look… something like this. I considered throwing a chat module in there, but I don’t think that’s necessary quite yet. But maybe in the game itself.

Coding up the “Find Games” database query for Firmament Wars

This particular query was a bit complex. I had to use a join, group by, and having all in one statement! But it’s working great! I also made some great progress on the code to create games.

Firmament Wars: Select Your Glorious Name and Flag!

Today I finished up development on the main page that allows you to select your nation name and flag. Unlocking flags is currently the only monetized content that is planned for the game. I may add something like great leaders later.

Is the flag of Uzbekistan worth 100 Never Crystals? You decide!

Update: Firmament Wars is a multiplayer grand strategy browser game targeted for release in 1st quarter 2017.

New Email Confirmation Feature in 1-0-98

You can now confirm your email account for a free 75 crystals. That is all! We have thousands of accounts, but we have no idea who is real and who isn’t. Instead of getting thousands of bounced emails, it would be preferable to notify people with real accounts! Just in case we have a big announcement or something like that!
